Challenge

Bring shopping and courier services into one intuitive experience, while keeping customers informed throughout fulfilment.

What I did

As co-founder, team lead and designer, I helped shape the product and designed customer journeys across mobile apps, web and dashboards.

Impact

Helped bring a multi-service delivery platform to market in Baku. Fonibo received venture investment from DAAL in 2021.

01

Context

Everyday essentials, connected through one delivery experience. Fonibo was an on-demand platform in Baku that brought groceries, restaurant orders, pharmacy purchases and express courier services into one app. As a co-founder, team lead and designer, I helped shape the product and designed experiences across mobile apps, the website and dashboards.

02

The problem

Less time coordinating. More time for everyday life. Shopping for essentials and arranging deliveries often meant separate trips, calls and services. Fonibo aimed to bring these needs into one place, making it easier to find products, place orders and follow deliveries. The design goal was to keep different services easy to understand while giving customers clear control over their order details and delivery progress.

Constraints

  • Coordination — Customers, merchants and couriers
  • Service complexity — Shopping and express delivery
  • Order flexibility — Unavailable products and order changes
  • Delivery visibility — Tracking, delays and status updates
  • Operational capacity — Fast delivery expectations

The solution

A choice of ways to sign in

Everyday services, one starting point

Everyday services, one starting point

The home screen brought shopping and courier services together, with clear categories and a visible delivery address to help customers start their next order.

Find the right store for your shopping

Find the right store for your shopping

Customers could browse supermarkets and hypermarkets, with opening hours and distance shown upfront to help them choose where to shop.

Learnings

  1. 01Designing beyond the app — A delivery experience depends on customers, merchants and couriers working together. The interface is one part of that wider service.
  2. 02Balancing scope and capacity — Bringing several services into one product creates complexity. A more focused starting point would make it easier to test the full experience and improve it before expanding.
  3. 03Thinking as a founder — Fonibo broadened my perspective beyond design. Building a product also means understanding the costs, operational demands and funding needed to keep it running.
